Visit
with John Bergey – Bill and I are going to have
John Bergey at our home on Friday afternoon, May 11 from
around 2:00 to 4:30. We are planning to treat his sweet tooth
to some ice cream. We would like to invite any others who
might want to visit with him at that time. I’m requesting that
those planning to come, let me know before hand, so I can plan
accordingly. Thank you - Susan
Gotthardt.
Widening the
Circle – The Adult SS Class will be studying
the book, “Widening the Circle – Experiments in Christian
Discipleship” by Joanna Shenk, during May, June and August. If
you would like to purchase the book, please see Don Linscheid
or stop by the church office. The cost is
$14.
The current issue of
Peace Signs, includes an
article by our own Steve Ratzlaff, “Top Ten Reasons Mennonites
No Longer Resist Paying War Taxes.”

Camp
Keola needs your help opening camp for the 2012
season. There's plenty to do from raking, cutting
firewood, to general facilities maintenance. It's a great way
to spend all or part of Memorial Day weekend, 25-28 May, at
Huntington Lake. We need to know how to prepare for
lunch, so please contact Larry Harder
larry@campkeola.org or
Roger Zimmerman (559-638-7808,
roger@campkeola.org) to
RSVP and discuss how you can
help.
Gift Discernment –
Remember to pick up your copy of the Gift Discernment
Inventory. Please prayerfully fill them out and return them to
a Discernment Committee member (Patti Wiens, Leon Hoover,
Muriel Quenzer) by Sunday, May
20.
Calling all
Graduates: Our church family graduates will be
honored at a reception immediately following the church
service on Sunday, June the 3rd. Please give names of
potential graduates, 8th grade and higher, to either the
church office – Pastor Steve, Jim Clymer – or Jeannie Flores.
Please turn names in by May 20th, so that no one is left out.
Thanks for your help, and
congratulations!
From Robin
Janzen– My friend's son Hendrix, who is 2 and
battling leukemia, may need a bone marrow transplant. The more
people who sign up for the bone marrow registry the better
chance he and others like him can find a match. You can go to
any local blood bank or they are having special drives for him
(see below). It's a simple swab of the inside of your cheek to
get on the registry.
There are three Central
California Blood Center locations in Fresno: The Jenny Eller
Donor Center at 4343 West Herndon, the North Fresno Donor
center at 1010 E. Perrin, and the Fresno Donor Center at 3445
North First Street. Then on May 17th, the County Counsel's
Office will hold a blood and bone marrow registry drive at the
Downtown Fresno County Ballroom. The hours are from 11 a.m.
until 5 p.m. Hendrix's Dad Art is an attorney in the
County Counsel's Office. Thanks! Robin
Take
Me Out To The Ball Game – It’s Fresno Grizzlies
baseball time again! As in past years, the Grizzlies are again
offering a great deal on Tuesday home games — two field box
seats for the price of one (2 for $16). Persons should meet at
the ticket office at 6:45 p.m. and we will buy tickets at that
time. Dates of games: June 5, 12, 26; July 24; and August 7,
21, 28. Come join us for some
fun!
